I’m a curious person interested in the issues of the day … and I’m not good at holding my tongue.

If journalists really had been striding around waving envelopes stuffed with cash under the noses of scandalised officers, then it’s pretty damned odd that nothing was ever done about it. What makes more sense is a scenario in which some officers were quietly seeking out journalists they could “do business with”. I’m not excusing such transactions – just pointing out that the current flow of narrative suggests a naive police force blissfully unaware that there is even such a thing as law-breaking in the world, and very sadly, very occasionally, becoming corrupted by the fiendishly ruthless media. The victimhood card is being played again.
